FAQ
Why managed servers
instead of getting your own connection?
The main reason is cost.
It is very expensive to maintain your own connection. For example,
a business DSL or T1 line to your office would cost approximately
$900 to $1200 Cnd per month and that only gives you anywhere from
1.5Mps to 4.0Mps. Furthermore you will still need networking equipment
and the bandwidth is quite limited. Your state-of-the-art server
should be located to a better place. Housing your good, reliable
server at home or your office can also lead to all sorts of problems;
such as power interruptions, insufficient bandwidth, security measures,
costly storage area and equipment, and a costly team of technical
staff to monitor your servers 24x7. By building your own internet
data centre, it might not be the most cost effective way to do business.
In the end it might cost you more than you expected. Data Fortress
Technologies will put your servers in a safe, reliable environment
without the large price tag. Your server will feel right at home
with our staff and facilities.
What kind
of connection do you have to the Internet?
Data Fortress Technologies' infrastructure offers several peering
connections to the Internet Backbone. We are directly connected
to WorldCom Canada and to Big Pipe Inc. (a Shaw Subsidiary) Our
network is fully redundant running BGP4 (Border Gateway Protocol)
on Extreme Networks gear.

therefore we are able to collocate Macintosh, Linux, Cobalt RaQ's,
Sparc, NT and Unix boxes. We can provide the connectivity you need.
